Meet Rebecca, the passionate quilter behind our longarm quilting services
Hi! I'm Rebecca, the quilter behind Third Coast Quilters. Quilting has been woven into all stages of my life, from childhood memories under quilting frames to running my own longarm quilting business.
Some of my earliest childhood memories are playing underneath a quilting frame, watching my Mom, Grandma, and aunts hand quilt. I saw how quilting brought them together. They talked and laughed together while quilting. I was taught early on how to hand quilt, using a thimble and needle making as tiny stitches as possible. As a teenager, I learned how to tie quilts.
My time for making quilt tops did not occur until after I was married. I made my first pieced quilt with my mother-in-law. We took a paper pieced class together. I cherish that experience and that first quilt. I have loved fabric and quilting ever since. As a busy mom, I did not have a lot of time to quilt on my own. My girls were taught to sew by their grandmas. We worked together making projects, which were mostly quilts for friends and teachers. I loved these times we had to work together.
The business of motherhood came and went quickly and now I've entered the stage in life called "empty nesters." With 3 kids in college, I work full time as a dental hygienist and quilt in my spare time. My mom and I decided to buy a long arm quilting machine to quilt our own projects. We spent one year sewing together under the same roof. It was memorable and a time I will never forget. We had so much fun, and I was hooked. I loved using the long arm and seeing our projects get finished! I decided I wanted to help other quilters complete their projects too!
I love modern quilts, I love vintage quilts! I love minky/cuddle fabric, tricot, linen, and cotton! I've tried it all and the edge to edge quilting looks amazing! I currently live in Portland, Texas with my husband. He helps me find vintage quilts to work on. We've raised our kids on the beautiful gulf coast, also known as the third coast. I'm excited for this stage of my life where I can keep busy helping other quilters add the finishing touch to their quilt with machine quilting!
